Web Techniques

Online investigator is a profession on the rise. Increasingly more investigators are able to properly and securely search for information on websites. However, behind those pages filled with useful information is a world of servers, protocols and techniques. To get the most from online investigations, it's desirable to comprehend and have knowledge of this world. As such, subjects like the technology behind a website (HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Content Management Systems) and protocols of the web, like HTTP and SMTP(mail) are discussed during the training.

For whom is this training intended?
This two-day training is suitable for participants with basic knowledge of Internet investigations. It's desirable if participants have already followed the Internet Investigation or the OSINT Basic training.

What will you learn during the training?
At the end of this training, the participants will have insight into the techniques behind the web. They know how a website is constructed, what the common terms like protocols, gateways and the client-server model entail and how to work with a Virtualbox. They have also learned how to search the source code of a website. Additionally, they are familiar with terms like Apache, NGINX, database, SQL, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Furthermore, they know what Content Management Systems are, like Wordpress and Joomla and are able to search web servers for traces. And, they can apply this knowledge in an investigation. 

OSINT Badge
