OSINT Upskill session: Building basic bookmarklets
In this free-of-charge OSINT upskill session, we’ll explore how to create basic bookmarklets—small JavaScript snippets saved as browser bookmarks—to streamline investigations and automate repetitive tasks. Bookmarklets can enhance your efficiency by enabling quick data extraction, custom searches, and seamless navigation between OSINT tools. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your workflow, this session will equip you with practical skills to leverage bookmarklets for smarter online investigations.
Since this is a basic session, no previous coding skills are required.
What you will learn:
- Basis knowledge of JavaScript.
- Setting up browser and Sublime Text to start scripting.
- Basic setup of a bookmarklet.
- Building bookmarklets using several types of input.
- If we have enough time left: how to run bookmarklets using a Chrome Extension.
Requirements:
- Laptop with browsers installed (preferably Chrome/Brave/Edge)
- User rights to change settings in your browser
- Have sublime text installed (free version) on your laptop
