iVe and the iVe Ecosystem
iVE is a forensic software tool made for analysing vehicle data. The ecosystem consists of a collection of hard and software tools that support the investigator in investigating vehicle data. With the powerful software, the obtained information can be investigated quickly and intuitively. Vehicle infotainment and telecom systems store an enormous amount of information. Think of recent destinations, favourite locations, call lists, contact lists, text messages, e-mails, photos and videos, social media feeds and the navigation history of the vehicle. In addition, many systems also store information about the use of the vehicle. Some examples include:
- When and where were the lights turned on?
- What doors were opened and closed and at what locations?
- Where was the vehicle at the moment a Bluetooth device was connected?
The iVe software supports more than 4600 different vehicles. The most important ones are Audi, Alfa Romeo, BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, FIAT, Ford, Jeep, Mercedes, Maserati, Seat, Skoda, Toyota and Volkswagen.
With iVe, you can copy data from vehicle systems such as Microsoft Sync™, MyFord Touch™, OnStar™, Uconnect™, ConnectedDrive™ and Entune™. A combination of software and hardware is applied to create forensically correct copies via the ‘non-destructive method’ at both a logical and physical level.
There is also an import option that enables users to import raw data files. A flash chip reader or similar technology is used for this. For iVe, it does not matter whether the data was obtained via a copy or an import file. The data can be decrypted, searched and presented using the software in both cases.

Mobile devices
iVe recognises the mobile devices that have been connected to the vehicle via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and/or USB and can approach the data.
Events
With a number of vehicles, the events can also be monitored: when were the doors opened and closed, when where the lights of a car turned on or off, etc. What is interesting here is that the time and date of these events can also be recorded. This information can also be read.
Navigation
Uncovering location data and navigation information such as trip logs and saved locations, active routes and previously visited destinations.
The iVe software supports more than 4600 different vehicles.
