Sintelix Harvester

Sintelix Harvester is a configurable (Google Chrome) plug-in that retrieves texts from web pages and adds it to a Sintelix project.

This can be done in two ways:

  • Batch Harvesting: texts are automatically retrieved from multiple web pages and sent to an existing Sintelix project. This option mainly has added value in investigation analyses and situations in which the analyst quickly and accurately needs to use data from social media, news websites, forums and other relevant online sources in their analysis.
  • Page Harvesting: texts and other elements of online content are manually selected and sent to an existing Sintelix project. This option is particularly valuable in situations where the analyst wants to add very specific data or online content to their analysis to improve the efficiency of the investigation.

With both options, the source always remains available and approachable.

The latest version of Sintelix Harvester contains a number of predefined rules to increase the quality and efficiency of the process. These rules are based on the content type and the structure of the most used online data sources, such news websites, wikis, Google Searchers, Twitter, Facebook and, for instance, LinkedIn. The rules are transparent and can easily be changed by the user. It is also possible to define a new set of rules and share it with other users.
